Let not your heart be troubled – you are not a loser: About 3/4 of the US population are Christians, almost evenly divided into 1/4 Catholic, 1/4 Mainline Protestant and 1/4 Evangelical. That leaves 2/3 of American Christians worshiping “liturgically”. By no means has “contemporary” won. For the mainline tradition one would have to say “blended” won. Even those who claim to have nothing today with “historic Christianity” still commemorate Jesus’ birthday in December and his resurrection in spring, for no apparent reason on very traditional – that is not contemporary – dates.
